Brownhill Investments Company Limited, the organizers of the annual ‘Warri Again Concert,’ have taken legal action against David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. They are seeking N2.3 billion in damages, alleging a breach of the agreement/contract between them. The suit, filed at the Delta State High Court in Effurun, was brought by Brownhill Investments, owned by former Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick.

The claimant, represented by lawyer Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, is requesting N2 billion in general damages from Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited. Additionally, they are asking the court to award N150 million for legal and professional fees, along with an extra N30 million for filing the lawsuit. The organizers are also seeking a public apology from Davido on his social media accounts and in national newspapers for four consecutive days.

According to the claimant, Davido approached Pinnick in early 2023, requesting to perform at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert’ scheduled for October 6, 2023. After initial hesitation, they agreed on a performance fee of N70 million. Davido received an equivalent of N70 million in US dollars on April 6, 2023, but failed to appear at the event despite promotional efforts. Despite attempts to contact Davido and his team, they did not respond, leading to significant financial losses for the organizers, including additional expenses of $18,000 for a chartered private jet.
