The presidency has confirmed that a video of President Bola Tinubu addressing Nigerians, which went viral on Wednesday, is actually an old clip. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, clarified on his X account that the video making the rounds is not recent.
Onanuga explained that the footage is from a broadcast made by President Tinubu last year. He further noted that the president has not issued any new public statements since his last broadcast on Sunday. “A trending video of President Tinubu that surfaced on Wednesday is not new. It’s a clip from a broadcast he made last year. President Tinubu has not made any new public statements since his last broadcast on Sunday,” Onanuga stated.
In related news, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed criticized President Tinubu’s recent nationwide address, calling it an ’empty speech.’ During his address on Sunday, Tinubu urged protesters to end their demonstrations and engage in dialogue, asserting that the removal of the fuel subsidy was irreversible.
Governor Mohammed, speaking at the launch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for the local government elections in Bauchi, argued that the Federal Government should stop making excuses to Nigerians.
