Aisha Suleiman, who was wrongly accused of poisoning five people with pepper soup, has spoken publicly after an investigation confirmed that the victims actually died from inhaling generator fumes.

In October 2024, Aisha was nearly lynched when a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) circulated her photo, falsely claiming she had poisoned her boyfriend and four of his friends. Despite being nowhere near the scene at the time, she returned to find herself confronted by an enraged crowd. The mob publicly humiliated her, tied her up, and doused her with petrol, preparing to set her on fire.

Fortunately, authorities arrived in time to prevent the attack.

She was later arrested and charged, but human rights activists intervened, pushing for a thorough investigation. This inquiry ultimately revealed that the five victims had succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes, not food poisoning.

In an interview with ITV Radio after her exoneration, which was shared on Friday, Aisha Suleiman firmly denied cooking pepper soup for anyone. She explained that tensions had arisen after she ended her relationship with her late boyfriend, leading his father to prohibit her from visiting their home.

On the day of the tragedy, Aisha was in Iyakpi, while the deaths occurred in Afashio.

Now, growing public outcry demands legal action against the friend of Aisha’s late boyfriend, who initially spread the false accusation.
