Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has advised Nigerians to be careful about information circulating on social media, stressing that online narratives can be misleading and should not control people’s lives. He made this statement during an appearance on The Morayo Show hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where he addressed public interest in his personal life and past marriage.
Adebayo explained that being a public figure exposes celebrities to constant scrutiny, with both accurate and inaccurate stories spreading rapidly online. He noted that once someone is in the spotlight, every aspect of their life becomes a topic of discussion, regardless of the truth. According to him, personal conscience and faith should guide individuals more than public opinion.
He further warned that not all online reports should be taken as facts, adding that misinformation is common. As an example, he recalled exaggerated claims about his wealth, including reports that he owned several mansions at a time when he did not own any property.
The actor’s comments come amid renewed attention to his past relationship with Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke. Their marriage eventually ended, and recent reports claimed she was evicted from a Lagos property linked to her business. Members of Adebayo’s family clarified that the property was purchased through a bank loan and later foreclosed due to repayment issues, insisting that the actor was not directly responsible for the eviction.
During the interview, Adebayo also spoke about his personal brand, saying he strives to maintain good character and ensure his work does not negatively affect others. He reiterated that social media users should always approach online content with caution due to the prevalence of false and exaggerated information.
On a lighter note, he described his fashion sense as simple and stylish, explaining that he dresses according to what suits him and the occasion.
Fans later praised the actor for his calm and thoughtful responses during the interview, with many commending his maturity and wisdom in handling sensitive personal topics.
