The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper and rescued a victim in Isua Akoko, the administrative centre of Akoko South-East Local Government Area.

According to reports, the victim—whose identity has not been disclosed—was abducted by three men while working on a farm. He, however, managed to escape after resisting his captors and injuring one of them during the struggle.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the case has been transferred to the command’s anti-kidnapping unit for further investigation.

He explained that the incident was first reported on April 10, 2026, when a man identified as Ahmadu informed the Isua Police Division that two young men had gone to Ipesi Akoko for cattle grazing but only one returned.

Acting swiftly, police operatives launched a coordinated operation that led to the safe rescue of the abducted individual.

The victim later recounted that he was taken at night by three suspects. While trying to break free, he struck one of them on the head, causing an injury.

Using the information provided, officers traced and arrested a suspect at Obasanjo Motor Park in Isua, where he was found with a noticeable head wound.

Police said the suspect has admitted involvement in the crime, while the victim also identified him as one of the abductors, particularly noting the injury inflicted during the encounter.

The rescued victim is currently receiving medical care, while the suspect has been handed over to the anti-kidnapping unit for further investigation and will be prosecuted after the process is concluded.

In a related development, a suspected kidnapping leader, Ismaila Ibrahim, was recently arrested by residents of Imoga Community in Edo State after being identified by a former victim. Another suspect was also reportedly detained following a confession.
