The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced financial support for soldiers affected by a recent terrorist attack in the state.
Following the incident in Kemanji community, Kaiama Local Government Area, the governor approved ₦20 million for each family of the three soldiers who lost their lives, as well as ₦5 million for each of the six injured personnel.
The governor made this known after visiting the wounded soldiers receiving treatment at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital in Ilorin, where he commended their bravery and described their sacrifices as invaluable.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday when armed assailants targeted a Nigerian Army base. Troops successfully repelled the assault, reportedly neutralising several attackers and preventing any civilian abduction. However, three soldiers were killed during the confrontation.
In a statement, AbdulRazaq expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, praising their courage in defending the community. He assured that the state government would continue to support both the bereaved families and injured personnel.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security efforts and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the state.
