Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have apprehended 132 individuals during a series of anti-drug operations across the Federal Capital Territory, recovering more than 220 kilograms of illegal substances.
Drivetvnews gathered that the agency disclosed that the coordinated raids took place over a two-week period, from April 11 to April 25, 2026, following extensive intelligence gathering and surveillance.
According to its spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the operations targeted known drug hotspots in several parts of Abuja, including Gwarinpa, Kubwa, Wuse, Garki, Jabi, Apo, and the Suleja axis, among others.
The crackdown was carried out by officers from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation in collaboration with the FCT Strategic Command, with the aim of dismantling drug distribution networks and curbing substance abuse.
Items recovered during the raids included large quantities of cannabis (skunk), as well as controlled drugs such as Diazepam, Tramadol, Rohypnol, methamphetamine, cocaine, and codeine syrup.
Babafemi noted that operatives encountered resistance in some locations, particularly in Durumi and the Suleja market area. However, the officers successfully overpowered the suspects and completed the operation without casualties.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking and related crimes across the country.
