Suspected kidnappers have abducted the Vice Chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Hon. Grace Ogunleye.
She was reportedly kidnapped along the Ipere–Iludun Ekiti road while returning to Ido-Ekiti after attending an official meeting in Ilejemeje on Thursday.
The incident was confirmed by the Director of Information and Civic Orientation of the local government, Falade Sunday, who disclosed that Ogunleye’s vehicle was later discovered abandoned, while her whereabouts remain unknown.
According to the statement, her mobile phone was also switched off after the incident, raising concerns over her safety.
Security agencies have since been alerted, with rescue efforts currently ongoing to locate and secure her release.
The abduction comes weeks after gunmen reportedly attacked a church in Eda Oniyo, also in Ilejemeje Local Government Area, where a pastor was killed and several worshippers abducted.
