Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said President Bola Tinubu will face a less difficult presidential election in 2027 than he did in 2023.

Olayinka, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, attributed Tinubu’s expected advantage to what he described as the President’s performance in office and his ability to establish alliances with politicians across party lines.

Speaking on TVC Breakfast on Monday, Olayinka said Tinubu had succeeded in attracting influential opposition figures to work with his administration, thereby reducing the ability of rival parties to mount a coordinated challenge.

He described the 2027 election as potentially a “one-way election,” arguing that Tinubu’s performance in governance and political strategy had strengthened his position.

Olayinka particularly mentioned Wike, who remains a PDP member but has been cooperating with the Tinubu administration.

He argued that Wike could have mobilised greater support for the PDP if he were not working with Tinubu.

According to him, the President’s ability to bring Wike and other influential politicians into his political camp has significantly altered the opposition landscape.

Olayinka also pointed to the different political directions reportedly being considered by some opposition governors ahead of the 2027 election.

He cited Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, suggesting that their political choices could further fragment opposition support.

The PDP chieftain maintained that Tinubu’s willingness to work with politicians from different parties had strengthened both his administration and his political position.

He urged Nigerians to pay attention to the political implications of Wike’s cooperation with Tinubu, despite the FCT minister’s continued membership of the PDP.
