The All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party have separately filed petitions challenging the outcome of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, in which Governor Ademola Adeleke was declared winner.
Drivetvnews gathered that the petitions were displayed at the entrance of the Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the State High Court in Osogbo on Monday.
The APC petition was filed by its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, alongside the party, against Adeleke and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In the petition, the APC candidate said he was dissatisfied with the declaration and return of Adeleke as the winner of the election and sought the tribunal’s intervention under relevant provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The PDP also filed a separate petition challenging INEC, the Accord Party and Adeleke.
The party identified Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola as its candidate in the August 15 election and challenged the circumstances surrounding the election result.
The PDP’s logo was reportedly absent from the ballot during the election.
Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, was declared winner after securing 511,067 votes.
Oyebamiji of the APC finished second with 444,815 votes, while Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress polled 17,180 votes.
The legal challenges now place the election outcome before the tribunal for determination.
