The Balogun of Ibadanland, Tajudeen Ajibola, has stated that there is no conflict between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, following recent tensions.

Speaking at his residence in Ibadan, Ajibola explained that respected elders in Ibadanland had stepped in to address the situation and prevent it from escalating further. He reassured residents that the issue had been managed and urged the public to disregard rumours circulating, particularly on social media.

According to him, Ibadan leaders are committed to maintaining peace and stability, noting that the city has experienced conflict in the past and is determined to avoid a repeat.

The development comes after former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose alleged that Makinde was planning to remove the monarch. The claim was, however, denied by both the state government and the palace.

Fayose had suggested that accusations of partisanship against the Olubadan were part of a broader plan to justify disciplinary action, a claim that has fueled political debate in the state.

Meanwhile, the Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gbenga Oyekola, has denied involvement in any alleged move to impeach the governor. He stated that he was neither consulted nor part of any such arrangement and reaffirmed his commitment to peace and stability in Oyo State.

Both Makinde and Ladoja, through their aides, have maintained that reports of a rift between them are unfounded.
