In Niger State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps took decisive action by apprehending Mallam Nura Suleiman, a 43-year-old Islamic teacher, who stands accused of the disturbing crime of molesting a three-year-old pupil named Isah Muaazu in the town of Suleja. The arrest unfolded during a routine surveillance operation, guided by credible intelligence, with the dedicated personnel managing to apprehend the suspect on January 19, 2024, specifically at Tsangaya Makaranta Mallam Umar, situated behind Niger Motel.

The gravity of the situation became evident as the statement, signed by Public Relations Officer SC Nasir D. Abdullahi in Minna, highlighted the urgency of the arrest. Isah Mu’azu, the young victim hailing from Kawo, Kaduna State, was promptly rushed to General Hospital Suleja for immediate medical attention due to the extent of injuries observed on his body. The severity of his condition led to his admission to the hospital.

Disturbingly, the investigation uncovered that Mallam Nura Suleiman had not limited his actions to a single victim. Four additional children under his care, namely Khalipha Abdullahi, Salihu Suleiman, Mohammed Mu’azu, and Ismaila Abdullahi, all from Kawo, Kaduna State, were found to exhibit signs of molestation, evident in the scars observed on their backs.

To ensure a comprehensive and thorough examination of the case, the suspect and all the victims involved were promptly handed over to the Niger State Child Rights Agency. This agency will take charge of conducting further investigations into the matter and, if warranted, proceed with the necessary legal actions for prosecution.

The incident underscores the vital role that law enforcement agencies play in safeguarding the well-being of vulnerable members of society and highlights the ongoing need for vigilance in protecting children from such heinous acts.
