Residents of Oda Community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State have been left in shock after a 38-year-old man, identified as Nsikak Kingsley, allegedly beat his father, Adone Peter, to death following a dispute.

According to the Ondo State Police Command, the incident occurred on May 28, 2026, when an argument between the suspect and his 65-year-old father reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.

Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said preliminary investigations revealed that the elderly man sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, during the assault.

The victim was rushed to a medical facility for treatment, but despite efforts by health workers to save his life, he was later confirmed dead by doctors.

The police disclosed that the incident generated widespread concern among residents of the community, prompting immediate action by security operatives.

Jimoh stated that the suspect was arrested after a complaint was lodged at a nearby police station by his brother. Following the report, officers launched an investigation and apprehended the suspect.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has assured residents that the case will be thoroughly investigated and that justice will take its course.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

The development adds to growing concerns over cases of domestic violence and family-related disputes that have resulted in fatalities across different parts of the country.
