The Chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Yahaya Yari, became emotional during the burial of 15 residents killed in a recent bandit attack on Tungar Bore settlement in Sado village, calling for urgent intervention from the Federal Government.

A video from the funeral showed the council chairman struggling to hold back tears as he addressed grieving residents following the mass burial of the victims.

During his remarks, Yari appealed to the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to brief President Bola Tinubu on the worsening security situation in Zamfara and the urgent need for stronger action against armed bandits.

He noted that Matawalle, as Zamfara’s representative in the Federal Executive Council, is in a position to communicate the growing concerns of affected communities directly to the President.

According to reports, the attack claimed the lives of 15 people, including 14 men and one woman. The victims were buried on Friday night amid widespread grief and renewed calls for improved security across the state.

The latest incident has once again highlighted the persistent insecurity affecting communities in Zamfara and other North-West states, where armed groups have continued to carry out attacks, kidnappings, cattle rustling, and destruction of farmlands despite ongoing military operations.

The prolonged violence has forced thousands of residents to flee their homes, disrupted farming activities, and worsened the humanitarian situation in many rural communities. Local leaders and residents have continued to urge the Federal Government to adopt more effective strategies to restore peace and safeguard lives.
