The Nigerian Army has arrested two serving soldiers over their alleged involvement in an unauthorised deployment during the star-studded wedding of popular content creator Habeeb Hamzat (Peller) and fellow TikTok personality Jarvis in Lekki, Lagos State.
According to military sources, the arrests followed intelligence reports that the soldiers participated in private security duties at the celebrity event without official approval.
The personnel were identified as Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa (23NA/85/10007) and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi (23NA/85/7885), both attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) in Obalende, Lagos.
A military source disclosed that the soldiers were taken into custody on Tuesday morning, with preliminary investigations already underway to determine the extent of their involvement and identify any other personnel connected to the incident.
The source stated that further details would be released as the investigation progresses.
The arrests come after videos from the wedding circulated widely on social media, showing uniformed soldiers providing security at the event. One of the clips allegedly showed a soldier escorting TikTok personality Ivanna through the crowded venue while acting as a bouncer.
The footage sparked widespread public criticism, with many Nigerians questioning the presence of military personnel at a private event involving celebrities and social media influencers.
Peller and Jarvis’ wedding, held over the weekend in Lekki, attracted several entertainers, influencers and content creators, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about celebrity events online.
However, the celebration was overshadowed by controversy after videos emerged showing men in military uniforms controlling access to parts of the venue and escorting selected guests.
The Nigerian Army has consistently maintained that serving personnel are prohibited from engaging in unauthorised private security duties or accepting illegal deployments without official approval.
