The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that Datti Baba-Ahmed was aware of what he described as Peter Obi’s shortcomings while serving as Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
Drivetvnews gathered that Sowore made the claim in a post on his X account while reacting to recent comments by Datti, who reportedly argued that Obi, Atiku Abubakar and other politicians could not provide the leadership Nigeria needs.
According to Sowore, Datti’s position amounted to an admission of what he allegedly knew about Obi during their time together on the Labour Party presidential ticket.
He wrote that Datti “knew Peter Obi” and described Obi as a “packaged fraud,” insisting that the former running mate had firsthand knowledge of the situation.
Sowore also referred to the 2023 Peace Accord ahead of the presidential election, claiming that he sat beside Datti during the event and observed his interaction with President Bola Tinubu.
He alleged that he had raised concerns about Obi and Datti’s relationship with Tinubu at the time, but said supporters of the Labour Party candidates dismissed his claims.
Sowore maintained that events since then had vindicated his position and urged Nigerians to carefully consider their choices ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The allegations and characterisations made by Sowore are his own claims and have not been independently established.
