British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, popularly known as Denisi or Ego, has died at the age of 43 following complications reportedly linked to a cosmetic procedure in Thailand.
Ubiribo reportedly travelled to Bangkok with his wife for what was described as a luxury trip before undergoing the procedure at a clinic in March.
Details presented during an inquest at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court reportedly showed that hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were administered during the procedure.
Shortly afterwards, Ubiribo reportedly complained of chest pain while out with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, and subsequently collapsed. He was taken to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors reportedly diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism.
Medical personnel reportedly attempted to revive him for more than 100 minutes, but he died in the early hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination conducted in the United Kingdom reportedly found cellular material in his lungs that was consistent with the substance used during the cosmetic procedure.
Coroner Jean Harkin reportedly concluded that the pulmonary embolism resulted from complications associated with the procedure.
Ubiribo had built a significant following on social media, with about 185,000 followers on Instagram, and was known for his lavish lifestyle and association with prominent personalities.
His funeral in London was reportedly elaborate, with reports stating that he was buried in a gold coffin. Nigerian celebrities and personalities, including Davido and Cubana Chief Priest, were also reported to have attended the ceremony.
The case has renewed attention on the potential medical risks associated with cosmetic procedures and the importance of understanding possible complications before undergoing such treatments.
