Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has explained why he helped connect former President Olusegun Obasanjo with Nigerian content creator Isbae U for an episode of the YouTube show Curiosity Made Me Ask.
Drivetvnews gathered that Charly Boy disclosed this in a post on X while reflecting on Obasanjo’s appearance on the popular programme.
According to him, the interview showed the importance of giving young people opportunities while encouraging older generations to engage with new ideas and platforms.
He said Obasanjo, despite his age and extensive experience, embraced the unconventional nature of the programme and interacted freely with Isbae U.
Charly Boy also revealed that he played a role in bringing the former president and the young content creator together because he believed in the potential of the people behind the show.
Obasanjo’s appearance attracted widespread attention after he participated in the programme’s humour and banter with Isbae U.
During the interview, Isbae U jokingly presented Obasanjo as his former employee, claiming to have paid his salary, provided his meals and covered his accommodation at Aso Rock between 1999 and 2007.
Obasanjo played along with the joke and responded to questions about contemporary Nigerian entertainment personalities, including music producer Don Jazzy, dancer Poco Lee and content creator Carter Efe.
Reflecting on the significance of the encounter, Charly Boy urged older Nigerians to do more than simply encourage young people to succeed.
He called on them to create opportunities, open doors, make recommendations and trust younger people with responsibilities.
Charly Boy also advised young Nigerians to prepare themselves to make the most of opportunities whenever they arise.
He concluded by advocating stronger cooperation between older and younger generations, saying such collaboration would help both sides grow and create a lasting legacy.
