African Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has challenged anyone with evidence of corruption against him to come forward and prove the allegation.
Drivetvnews gathered that Amaechi made the statement during an interview with Channels Television on Friday while discussing his eight-year service under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former Minister of Transportation was asked about corruption during the Buhari administration and whether his involvement in the government raised questions about his own conduct.
Amaechi rejected any suggestion that he was involved in corrupt practices, insisting that he had remained in politics for decades without being found guilty of corruption.
He also contrasted what he described as corruption under previous administrations with the current situation, alleging that some people involved in present-day corruption were not attempting to conceal their activities.
Addressing the question of whether his ability to avoid prosecution was due to being particularly smart, Amaechi responded humorously, pointing out that his academic background was in English and literature rather than accounting.
He recalled a previous interview in which he was directly asked whether he was corrupt and said he had denied the allegation.
Amaechi maintained that he was still waiting for anyone who could provide evidence proving that he had engaged in corrupt practices.
