The Osun State Police Command has apprehended six suspected cultists in possession of 155 rounds of 9mm live ammunition at the Ipetu-Ijesa motor park in the Oriade local government area.

The suspects were intercepted while attempting to board public transportation out of the town. Their suspicious behavior was noticed by park operators, who promptly alerted the authorities.

Upon their arrest, four locally made pistols were discovered in their possession. Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson for the Osun police command, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspects confessed to being members of the ‘eiye’ confraternity from Ilorin, Kwara state.

Opalola further revealed that the suspects admitted to planning a cultism operation in Delta State before their apprehension.

“We received information about suspected hoodlums believed to be underworld figures sighted at Ipetu-Ijesa motor park. A police team swiftly moved to the motor park and apprehended the six suspects,” Opalola stated.

She added, “Four locally made pistols along with 155 rounds of live 9mm ammunition were recovered from the suspects. They confessed to being members of the eiye confraternity from Ilorin, Kwara state, and revealed their intentions to carry out cultism activities in Delta state.”
