Former Kogi State lawmaker Dino Melaye has alleged that President Bola Tinubu embarked on a three-week vacation after coming under sustained criticism from African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Drivetvnews gathered that Melaye made the claim in a post on his verified X account, suggesting that the President needed time away to “reset” following what he described as a series of attacks from Atiku.
He also linked Tinubu’s vacation to the controversy surrounding the release of documents relating to the President by US security agencies in connection with an ongoing court case.
According to Melaye, the documents had exposed alleged violations of US laws and showed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had previously investigated Tinubu.
He further claimed that Tinubu’s reported plan to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York would be affected by the controversy.
Melaye alleged that the President would be reluctant to travel to the United States because of the records associated with his name.
He also criticised the Presidency over its earlier indication that Tinubu would attend the high-level UNGA debates scheduled to begin in September 2026.
However, Melaye’s comments represent his personal political claims and allegations. The reported US records and their implications remain subjects of legal and political dispute.
