The Ogbomoso Central Mosque, situated in the Oka’gbo area of Oyo State, has been closed due to a leadership dispute. According to reports obtained by Naija News on Friday, certain Muslim leaders in the town collectively decided to shut down the mosque following disagreements surrounding the appointment of the Chief Imam, Sheikh Teliat Yinus Oluwasina Ayilara.

A source from the town, as quoted by Daily Post, revealed that the closure decision was made on Thursday. Some individuals opposing Ayilara’s selection argued that he is not from the town. The emergency closure order by the Muslim leaders aimed to prevent Ayilara from conducting the Jumat service and to maintain peace and order in the community.

The source, who requested anonymity, mentioned that the leaders making this decision included prominent figures like the Aare Musulumi of Ogbomosoland, Alhaji Abdulganiy Atanda Owodunni, the Asoju Musulumi, Alhaji Minkaheel Yussuf, and the Balogun Musulumi, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Bello, among others.

As a result, the leaders have encouraged Muslims in the community to attend Jumat services in mosques near their homes, awaiting the final resolution of the matter.
