Yoruba Nation activist and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has praised KSI Construction Company Limited for donating a plot of land valued at ₦50 million to the security organisation for the construction of its Abuja office.
In a statement issued by his media office in Ibadan on Thursday, Igboho said the donation would strengthen the organisation’s activities in the Federal Capital Territory by providing it with a corporate office in the nation’s capital.
He also reaffirmed Iru Ekun’s commitment to working with the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS) and other security stakeholders to promote peace and safety across South-West communities.
Igboho expressed appreciation for the support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and South-West governors in tackling insecurity and criminal activities across Yorubaland.
He particularly commended KSI Construction Company Limited for donating the land, adding that the firm had also concluded plans to provide 10 brand-new motorcycles for the organisation’s operations during the proposed unveiling of its Abuja office.
According to him, support from corporate organisations and individuals would strengthen community security initiatives and contribute to efforts to combat insecurity across the South-West and Nigeria at large.
Meanwhile, the Group Managing Director of KSI Construction Company Limited, Dr Koleola Oladeni, said the donation was motivated by what he described as the achievements of Iru Ekun Security Network since it began operations in the region.
Oladeni claimed that the organisation’s activities, in collaboration with the police, DSS, Nigerian Army and other security agencies, had contributed to a reduction in kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities across Yorubaland.
He also alleged that attacks on highways, killings, abductions and assaults on farming communities had reduced in recent times.
The KSI Construction chief executive explained that these developments informed the company’s decision to donate the land and provide 10 motorcycles to support the organisation’s operations.
He added that individuals and corporate organisations had a responsibility to support initiatives aimed at improving national security, describing the donation as the company’s contribution towards protecting lives and property.
