Armed attackers have killed a traditional ruler and four other residents while abducting 10 people during an assault on Kware community in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
A security analyst, Bakatsine, said the attack occurred in the evening when gunmen invaded the village and opened fire on residents. The village head was among those killed, while several others were taken away by the assailants.
The abducted victims were reportedly forced into the surrounding area by the attackers, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
Residents said the incident highlights a troubling pattern, noting that this is the second time a village head has been killed in the community despite previous ransom payments made to secure peace.
They also raised concerns about the absence of security personnel in the area, explaining that Kware is located just a few kilometres from Tsafe town but continues to experience repeated attacks without adequate protection.
Attempts to get a response from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, did not respond to calls or messages as of the time of filing this report.
