Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 60-year-old man, Musa Garba, for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday.

According to the police, the incident was reported at the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters by the victim’s father, who alleged that the suspect lured the child into a hideout on May 7, 2026.

Habib stated that detectives attached to the division swiftly arrested the suspect following the complaint.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the offence and allegedly admitted to committing similar acts against the victim on previous occasions.

The police spokesperson added that both the victim and the suspect were taken to the General Hospital in Toro for medical examination and treatment.

Investigators also revealed that the victim mentioned another suspect identified only as Nafi’u, who is currently at large and allegedly involved in a separate incident concerning the child.

The arrested suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the incident and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crimes involving children and sexual and gender-based violence.

He also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.
