Nollywood actress Bukky Adekogbe Raji, widely known as Aminatu Papapa, has publicly apologized for backing President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

In a now-viral video interview, the actress expressed deep remorse and pleaded with Nigerians—especially those facing economic hardship—for forgiveness. She acknowledged that her involvement in Tinubu’s campaign has since become a source of personal regret, given the worsening living conditions in the country.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologize to Nigerians. I’m sorry,” she said. “People are going through so much, and it’s painful to see so many struggling to feed.”

Adekogbe highlighted the growing hunger and poverty among citizens, stressing that her support for Tinubu was not influenced by any financial gain. “I didn’t collect a kobo. I campaigned genuinely, but now I feel the pain of the people,” she added, appealing emotionally to those who can no longer afford three meals a day.

Her apology follows a similar expression of regret from fellow Nollywood veteran Ganiu Nafiu, popularly known as Alapini. Speaking in a recent interview on the YouTube show Behind the Fame – African A-List TV, Alapini also shared his disappointment over his role in the 2023 campaign.

He revealed that many Yoruba actors who supported the Renewed Hope movement have since been sidelined. Discussing his personal struggles, including health and family issues, he lamented that the promises made during the campaign have not been fulfilled, leaving him and others feeling abandoned.
