Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over her recent appeal for Nigerians, especially young people, to help ease the pressure on the Federal Government.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, the entertainer questioned the remark, arguing that public officials voluntarily sought the responsibility of governing and should be prepared to handle its demands.

“What do you mean by pressure on the government? Did anyone force you to take the job?” Falz asked while reacting to the First Lady’s statement.

He also criticised what he described as the government’s spending priorities, alleging that funds continue to be directed towards luxury items such as vehicles and aircraft while many parts of the country still grapple with insecurity and other pressing challenges.

According to Falz, addressing the welfare and safety of citizens should take precedence over what he called unnecessary government extravagance.

The rapper further revisited President Bola Tinubu’s campaign slogan, “Emi Lokan” (“It’s my turn”), describing it as one of the most unbelievable political statements he had heard. He maintained that anyone who sought office with such confidence should not later complain about the demands of leadership.

His comments have generated widespread reactions on social media, with users expressing mixed opinions. While some supported his criticism of the government, others argued that governance is complex and requires collective support from citizens.

The remarks add to the ongoing public debate over the administration’s handling of economic and security issues, as well as the expectations placed on elected leaders.
