The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the recently concluded Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to caution his supporters against attacking residents of the state.
Oyebamiji made the appeal on Friday after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The APC candidate claimed that about four or five people were attacked in his village earlier that morning.
He said the incident had been reported to security agencies, stressing that political disagreements should not be allowed to degenerate into violence.
“I want to advise the governor that it is important to talk to his people. Violence kills our people and it’s not too good,” Oyebamiji said.
He urged Adeleke to speak to his supporters so that residents could remain united and peaceful.
Oyebamiji added that the APC was still reviewing the outcome of the election and would announce its next decision after completing its assessment of the results.
Adeleke won the August 15 governorship election, defeating Oyebamiji. The governor contested on the platform of the Accord Party after securing the party’s ticket for the election.
The APC candidate’s latest comments come amid heightened political tensions following the election, with both sides calling for calm while assessing the outcome of the poll.
