Rumors recently circulated that the British government was planning to deport Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, a Nigerian-born citizen residing in the UK, back to Nigeria. Some reports also claimed that the issue involved political documentation.
Pastor Adegboyega addressed the allegations during an interview with the BBC, calling them politically driven and inaccurate. He clarified that the situation was misrepresented by those spreading the rumors.
The pastor shared his journey of moving to the United Kingdom, saying he came like many others seeking better opportunities. He initially believed that those already living there had taken care of all the necessary arrangements. However, as he learned more about the system and decided to follow the proper procedures, he felt his efforts were underappreciated and misunderstood at the time.
Some critics accuse Pastor Adegboyega of trying to use political connections to gain influence, portraying him as someone stirring conflict for personal benefit. These claims have fueled further speculation about allegations of fraud involving £1.87 million and rumors of deportation.
In response, Pastor Adegboyega emphasized his dedication to helping young people. He highlighted his consistent support for the youth in his church and his collaborations with public figures like Davido and Portable Zazuu to provide opportunities and resources.
Reflecting on his experiences in the UK, he said he was struck by the struggles faced by many Black youths, particularly Nigerians, who lacked direction and purpose. This motivated him to take action by sharing the gospel and guiding them toward building meaningful lives and contributing positively to their communities.
