Armed bandits have attacked a mosque in Unguwan Namama village, located in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing one worshipper and abducting several others.

Drivetvnews gathered that the incident occurred on Friday night at about 8 p.m. while worshippers were gathered for prayers. According to residents, the attackers surrounded the area and opened fire as people were leaving the mosque, causing panic among worshippers.

The victim who lost his life was identified as Adamu Ibraheem. Several other worshippers sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

A relative of the deceased, Abubakar Abdullahi, confirmed the attack, describing it as a tragic incident that has left the community in shock.

Residents said the gunmen also kidnapped an unspecified number of people during the assault. However, the exact number of abducted victims and those injured has yet to be officially confirmed.

The attack comes despite ongoing efforts by security agencies and claims by the Kaduna State Government that progress has been made in tackling banditry across affected communities.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not released an official statement regarding the incident. Investigations are expected to continue as efforts intensify to rescue those abducted and track down the perpetrators.
